One holiday night, the Radko family awoke from their slumber, not to the sounds of clatter like in “Twas the Night Before Christmas,” but instead to the thundering sound of their beloved Christmas tree falling in their living room. More than 1,000 vintage mouth-blown ornaments had been destroyed and the Radkos were devastated. Christopher Radko searched across town to replace them, but came up empty. Nothing available measured up to the family’s cherished ornaments. He soon realized that the only option was to start from scratch, thus paving the way for Christopher Radko Ornaments.
Christopher enlisted a Polish glassblower and went to work recreating his family’s lost heirlooms, building from only memories of what he once had. His project quickly picked up traction and by 1985 he had officially launched his business, debuting 60 unique designs.
Artisanal Craftsmanship
Even thirty years after Christopher Radko launched his company, there continues to be an artisanal finesse to each extraordinary holiday treasure the company designs and produces. Each piece is created by a talented team of artists and craftsmen in Poland who are using techniques and methods dating back to the Renaissance era.
